I thought it was an attempt to trash the church and was hesitant to waste my time/money, but finally friends convinced me that I should give it a look. So here's fair warning. This book wrecked my life. I state that as the highest praise. If you are a person who wants the truth, whatever it may cost you and however many cherished doctrines you may need to examine, you should read this book.For too many years, the established church (which is often a good and worthy institution) has put the most important facet of church life on the back burner. Jesus. Plus nothing. Dear family, Jesus is all that matters and we have diluted His revelation with so many things. He is revealed in His assembly, yet most of the assembly is sitting on their hands receiving pablum from an overworked preacher. It's time to let Jesus step back up to the podium and hear from Him via one another. Get this book. It will wreck your life, too. In a good way. ;)

As the authors have stated elsewhere, this book is a deconstruction of modern church practice and it is up to the reader to figure out where to go from there.This book hit me like a fist in the gut. Everything I knew about my faith practice was challenged and it was an uncomfortable few months after finishing the last chapter. That being said, I recommend that everyone read this book. Once you realize how much of church practice has superseded Scripture, you will begin the search for a more focused fellowship. This book should be read with others to gain more insight about simple fellowships/house church ideals that are present in the book.I hope you have the courage to be tested in your preferences.

I grew up in a protestant environment. Frank Viola nails the Sunday routine that's surprisingly alike in all modern churches. What we consider "worship service" is based, not on the first century example but on practices from early pagan cultures. Sort of shocking to me, but it did make me smile and shake my head many times (and even grin a couple of times) when I recognized a whole string of sacred cows that have no basis in scripture (including order of worship, sermon, the little fence that divides the leader from the congregants, and many more). Made me realize the truth of what his research shows. No matter how many pretty new dresses you put on a cow or what you call it, it still remains a cow. I really appreciated the descriptions of what actually constituted Christian worship in the first century. I've read and studied the Bible since I was a child, yet after reading Pagan Christianity, I'm seeing all these things with new eyes. Incredible. If we'd follow the New Testament examples of what actually went on when first century Christians got together, we certainly wouldn't get sleepy or sit there mutely wondering what was for lunch, because everybody present participates. Yep, everybody. Worship is not a spectator sport. This book is a stimulating read, and it's based on solid research--all documented. It's one of those life-changing books that comes into your life quietly--and leaves you changed. I liked it so much that I've ordered a complete library of Viola's books. I want to know more!

I believe every Christian should read this book it will bring you closer to God not farther away. You will be shocked to learn what is wrong with our church "system". I bought this book because I was seeing things in the "church" that does NOT line up with scripture. We are now starting a home group.

This book unveils the traditions created by man that has watered down, bound up, and hindered the true Church of Jesus Christ. Reading this will change your life if your heart is open to the Holy Spirit. You'll be amazed when you see how we have been blinded to the simplicity and purity of the church Jesus wants to build in the earth. You will learn how to shake off the chains, but others who are comfortable in their traditions may not appreciate your new views or freedom. Read this. Read the references. This can be a manual that will enhance your understanding of the Word of God because it will enable you to read it without the glasses of tradition hindering your vision.

I was recommended this item by Dr. Timothy R Jennings. I decided to purchase the Audio CDs. The plastic casing was imperfect; not closing properly. Amazon did not hesitate to offer me a replacement or a refund. In the end, I just kept the CDs for myself (they were originally to be a present).The content of this 'book' (from 2008) is eye-opening. We have been removed from the Biblical faith of the early church and have thought that what we practice today is genuine Christianity. Well, in your case it may well be, as the adornments have little to do with actual internal beliefs. But it seems that we need to strip away all that clutters, and live out our faith as Christ and the Apostles did. Easier said than done? You are probably right. However, this book should be required reading for every soul who confesses Christ as his/her Saviour. The result would a simple, practical faith that looks not to prelates and buildings and rituals and forms of religion but to the inner temple of God. Do I recommend it? About the Author

Susan L. Kasser, PhD, is an associate professor in the department of rehabilitation and movement science at the University of Vermont at Burlington, where she teaches courses pertaining to inclusive physical activity. She holds a doctorate in movement studies in disability from Oregon State University. Kasser has over 20 years of teaching experience in community and school-based physical activity programs involving individuals with diverse abilities. She has presented on both national and international levels in the area of inclusive physical activity. Kasser has also developed many community-based exercise programs for adults with chronic conditions and disabilities, including the Individualized Exercise for Active Lifestyles (IDEAL) program, which has served more than 75 adults with multiple sclerosis since 1998. In 2012 she received the Outstanding Faculty Award from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Vermont. Kasser also received the 2001 Outstanding Educator Award from the Vermont Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and the 2000 Kroepsch-Maurice Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Vermont. Kasser resides in Jericho, Vermont, where she enjoys hiking, kayaking, and backpacking in her free time. Rebecca K. Lytle, PhD, is a professor in the department of kinesiology at California State University at Chico, where she teaches courses in adapted physical education and motor development. Lytle has been teaching in higher education since 1992. She also taught as an adapted physical education teacher in the public schools from 1988-1996, and was a school consultant from 2000-2002. Lytle has published numerous articles for refereed journals and coauthored three books and six book chapters on adapted physical activity. She has presented at the state, national, and international levels and has served as consultant or coordinator for several community-based physical activity and motor skill assessment programs for both children and adults. She is a member of the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance (ICHPER-SD); Council for Exceptional Children (CEC); International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA); National Consortium for Physical Education and Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPERID); Adapted Physical Activity Council (APAC); Northern California Adapted Physical Education Consortium (NCAPEC); American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD); California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (CAHPERD); and California Teachers Association (CTA). Lytle also serves as chair of the National Adapted Physical Activity Council of AAHPERD and chair of the California State Council on Adapted Physical Education. Lytle and her husband, Donald, reside in Chico. In her free time she enjoys playing with children, walking and hiking, and playing baseball and softball.

This is a great textbook, it has a lot of good information and activities to do with children with differing abilities.

Everything was fine! :-)

I got what I paid for, the book had everything I needed but I wasn't too impressed with how it was formatted into my iPad. It was more like a novel and I couldn't find page numbers. I was working with percentages and that can be frustrating sometimes.

The book I received was in perfect condition. Printing the label an shipping it back was easy.

I believe that the book was very helpful for my class.

The authors do go into other disabilities associated with autism, but I would like to see a separate section for the other differences on the spectrum.So if you are looking for a book that will meet your needs on understanding and starting to implement your fitness or class for those with special needs, check out Inclusive Physical Education. I plan on using it and keeping in my library for years to come.Susan L. KasserSusan has an extensive experiences in the areas of adapted physical education. She taught children from 3 to 15 for over 12 years and during that time developed many games specifically for their learning and physical differences. Excellent book for tourists and those who wish to explore Guyana. It's detailed with alot of information about where to visit, history, where to eat, where to stay and much more. I've found it useful on my journeys throughout this region. Highly recommended.

I purchased this specific travel guide in preparation for a trip to Georgetown this summer (2008). I found it to be both educational, timely (January 2008 copyright date),authentic and insightful from the author's personal narrative and perspective about this unique South American country. I also wanted to add some of the perceived "typos" mentioned by the previous reviewer are possibly not really typos for those of British or European backgrounds, I believe it is how they form and spell specific word patterns in their country, for example...realised (European) in the USA is spelled "realized" or enquiry (European) in USA is spelled "inquiry"Callie Wilder

If you are going to Guyana, get this book.When you get to Guyana relax over a cappuccino and enjoy the lunch buffet at the Oasis, then get out of Georgetown and get into the interior. (Don't forget to bring steel leader if you plan on fishing, the piranha bite through regular leader like it wasn't even there).

This is the first Bradt travel guide I have purchased and the standard is excellent, Better than any other travel guide I have purchsed for any other country. The author writes very well, has actually lived in the place, and has taken the trouble to visit just about everywhere he describes. I purchased separately a map by another publisher and it was lousy and a waste of money. The maps in the Bradt guide are excellent and show every single place you might want to visit. A travel guide for Guyana can hardly be a great commercial proposition and Bradt are to be congratulated for taking such a brave decision.

This is a great book because it covers the history, tradition, food, biodiversity, among other things from Guyana. It is illustrated with maps, photographs and drawings. I liked this book because I am planning on traveling to Guyana and this guide helped me plan my trip. It even has a section with drawings for animal tracks that you might see in the forest. I recommend it

Just got back from Guyana, a broken country. Used Kirk's guide book, excellent coverage, but too charitable/not realistic enough about the country. Georgetown is a dump, but the guide dodges around this fact. This book was written in '07, but it doesn't seem much has changed in the last 4 years. (I notice an '011 edition is just out, btb.) Pretty indicative of the progress, or lack thereof, in this country.A few quibbles. If you go to Guyana, bring binoculars! Nowhere does Kirk mention this. Also, no advice at all on tipping. It would have been useful. And finally, I really don't know why the Canopy Walkway is so highly rated. Practically a waste of time. A stay at the IwoKrama Field Station is a thousand times better, as well as a stay at Rockview. Skip the canopy walkway unless that is going to be your only time in the rain forest.

This is the first guidebook that treats Guyana separately as a country, and is very well researched. There is no contest between this and other guidebooks -- the level of detail and coverage of the country is unmatched when compared to the Lonely Planet's "South America on a Shoestring", the only other guidebook I know that covers Guyana well.This book is a must have for anyone visiting or moving to Guyana. My only gripe with the book is that there is the occasional typo that can be annoying.

About the Author Sir Patrick Moore was a legendary British astronomer, writer, broadcaster and presenter. He is credited as having done more than any other to raise the profile of astronomy with the British public. He was a former president of the British Astronomical Association and the co-founder and former president of the Society for Popular Astronomy. He wrote over 70 books on astronomy, all of which he typed on his 1908 Woodstock typewriter. He presented all but one episode of The Sky at Night since it began in April 1957.Dr Percy Seymour did his PhD at The University of Manchester, on the large scale structure of the galactic magnetic field. Subsequent to that he was Senior Lecturer at the Royal Observatory, Greenwhich, and then Principal Lecturer in Astronomy at Plymouth University. He has also taught for the Open University and the University of the Third Age. He is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, a Member of the Institute of Physics, and has also been a Member of two special commissions of the International Astronomical Union - on The Interestellar Medium, and Astronomy Education. He has published over 15 academic and scientific journal articles on Astronomy. His books on astronomy, most recently Dark Matters, have been published in English and German.
